The Shores of Tripoli
The Shores of Tripoli is based on the First Barbary War (1801-1805), in which Thomas Jefferson sent a United States fleet to quash rampant piracy in the Mediterranean Sea – and potentially to face a war with Tripoli and its allies.
In the game, the American player tries to pressure the Tripolitan player to allow free movement of American ships – or prepare to be conquered. The Tripolitan player is eager to keep the money flowing from the pirate trade but also faces a growing American threat on both land and sea.
The Shores of Tripoli is a two-player, card-driven game that captures the high adventure of an important episode in American history. Setup is easy and the game play takes 45-60 minutes.
